Obama Administration Rejects Keystone Pipeline Proposal
Saying it did not have sufficient time to properly vet the proposal, the State Department said it would recommend rejecting a proposal by TransCanada to build a 1,700 mile pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to refineries in Texas.
"As the State Department made clear last month, the rushed and arbitrary deadline insisted on by Congressional Republicans (climate change is a hoax dipshits) prevented a full assessment of the pipeline’s impact, especially the health and safety of the American people, as well as our environment,” the President said in a statement. “As a result, the Secretary of State has recommended that the application be denied. And after reviewing the State Department’s report, I agree.”
Keystone Pipeline is Bad
Mike Klink is a former inspector for Bechtel, one of the major contractors working on TransCanada’s original Keystone pipeline, completed in 2010. Klink says he raised numerous concerns about shoddy materials and poor craftsmanship during construction of the pipeline, which brings tar sands crude from Canada to Midwestern refineries in the U.S. Instead of actually addressing the problems, Klink claims he was fired by Bechtel in retaliation. He filed a complaint with the Department of Labor in March of 2010, and made his story public last fall.
